1) Pediculosis is an infestation of lice — blood-feeding ectoparasitic insects of the order Phthiraptera.

2) Pediculosis is a contagious infestation with lice transmitted by personal contact. It can be spread through combs, animals, hats, blankets, telephones, and theater seats. It often occurs in individuals who do not have access to facilities for bathing or washing clothes such as the homeless. Anyone can contract pediculosis.
